Could it be that I am the first comment w/ the new layout???! BTW this is my FAVE WP layout b/c the type face is big and very clear. I can read it better and it seems wayyyy less squished. GREAT job, Janetha! And too sweet b/c of a frosting bottom, i am all over that :) nothing is too sweet for me.

Some of my favorite things include white chocolate macadamia luna bars, sweet leaf tea, vanilla chobani, kashi 7 grain puffs, and so much more! Would love to try more flavors of kombucha.

  3. April 20, 2010 10:24 pm

Congratulations! I will not say the b-word but I am so glad that you have been blogging a year and I only wish I had found you sooner! And happy birthday to Sophie!

I love Oxygen magazine too, and Tropical Twist Trident is MAJOR. I’d give both those things away too, along with a big fatty jar of almond butter (TJ’s crunchy almond w/flaxseeds!).

I read your blog for the great training tips, clean eating ideas and your quirky fun personality.

    Love it!!!

  4. April 20, 2010 10:31 pm

Haha. I hate the word blogiversary too. Or however they spell it. Ugh. But CONGRATS on the one year mark! I LOVE your blog. It’s actually the only food blog I regularly read. I’ve learned a ton about how to balance meals and get more protein in my diet for strength training purposes.

I liked the video post! I especially liked seeing your favorite things. Peanut butter and maple together sounds like the best thing ever. I love that combo but I’ve never seen that product before. Now I’m going to have to hunt it down… unless I win?!?!

My favorite things? Hmmm. I was actually going to do a similar giveaway on Thursday (my birthday!), so I’m still thinking up what I will include. But my favorite things right now include greek yogurt, Oxygen and Fitness magazines, almond butter! :)

  5. April 20, 2010 10:32 pm

I love so many things going on here – the redesign, the video and the elephant hoodie! HAPPY ONE YEAR! Some of MY favorite things are also my Blender bottle and Oxygen AND Kombucha.

For my giveaway, I already did use some of my favorite things actually – scarves, coffee, chocolate, shopping money… Ha.

    Hi, Janetha!

Hmm what would I give away? I am loving Vita Tops right now, a Lululemon water bottle – I get so much use out of that baby everyday – Maple Nut Cliff Bars are a must (maple, yum), Tazo Refresh Tea and my favorite peanut (totally wrote beanut) butter Maranatha (Creamy with Salt).

I read your blog because you inspire me to hit the gym a little harder each time I go, and your eats (I get major food envy of your greek yogurt messes).

  7. April 20, 2010 10:42 pm

Loved the video! Happy one year of blogging! And happy birthday to Sophie!

If I were to do a giveaway of my favorite items I would include: Clif Banana Nut Bread Bars, Annie’s Deluxe Shells and Cheese, SmartWool socks (yep I have a love affair with them), Honest Tea, Green and Black Mint Dark Chocolate, and an Alternative Baking Company Cookie.

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  8. April 20, 2010 10:42 pm

Ahhhh I LOVE YOU!!!! Okay first off, I did NOT expect you to sound/look/be like the way you are!! It’s funny how we (or I) have an idea of what you are like and then see the video and it’s SO not the same at all.

You are beautiful and cute to boot!

Hmmm favorite things? Millet Bread!!! I would have to send it in a cooler or something haha.

AND I read your blog because you brighten my day. You are one of the nicest and most selfless persons I’ve ever met. You have a heart the size of Mount Everest and it shows through in every one of your posts. I consider you a great friend and I would be SO delighted to meet you in person on day.

now for the more relevant comments:

congrats on one year of blogging!
i love reading your blog – i look forward to your posts! you’ve definitely helped inspire my own food/exercise goals, and your success with bfl has made me do a ton of internet research about HIIT (what did i do before?!) and balancing protein and carbs. even as a vegan i’m much more conscious of trying to get those ratios closer to that 40/40/20 ratio. …your cutie pie dogs also play a role :)

and my giveaway would include: kombucha, nutritional yeast because i add it to eeeverything and it’s delicious, coconut water, a chocolate brownie clif bar, mesquite or thai peanut primal strips, sunbutter and dates (to be eaten together, of course), and my all time favorite protein powder from trueprotein (http://www.trueprotein.com/Product_Details.aspx?cid=22&pid=6816).

How fun that you started the blog on Sofi’s 3rd bday… but that is when she turned 22… your favorite #! My favorite part of the video was learning that Marshall chews a pack a day! And seeing/hearing you! People have told me I have a Utah accent, too. Seeing how we are sisters and sound like each other, I guess that is true. Love you! Happy Blogging!

Cool how in your video the light changes!

If I had a giveaway of one of my favorite things, it would probably be Kashi granola bars. I’m addicted to the pumpkin spice one. I like them because they are not too sweet, all natural, and very affordable.

  150. April 21, 2010 10:59 am

You’ve shared a lot of great recipes on your blog, which I love. I make the protein cake and protein pancakes now. I tried to make a waffle out of the protein cake and it kind of exploded in the waffle iron (lol), but it was still tasty. :)

OK love that you say “oops my ring is too big” (boo fricken hoo!) and that I thought you were sitting on a step ladder. And that I also love your voice (as you say you’ve loved mine. awwww <3) And that only YOU can rock a video for 7:48 as I generally as a rule do not watch anything over about 2 minutes due to blog ADD and life ADD. I will NOT wish you a blogersary as you hate that word, but how about happy Blirthday??? So cheesy I know.

A few of my favorite things? (I wanted to sing a la Mary Poppins right then): My own OMG OMG OMG hazelnut butter, Oxygen mag, Muscle & Fitness, KIND bars-= most of them. Peanut flour- dark roasted 12% fat NOMMMMMMMMMMMMM, Eclipse gum (seriously run, don't walk and try some..you might have to defect from Trident- it lasts and lasts and lasts), um single serving Justin nut butters, Kettle bells (but hell not I'd never ship them to a reader- they can come and get them!), rump rope, Vitamix (hell no! Not giving one away, you just asked for favorites)

  166. April 21, 2010 12:48 pm

Second entry: I’ve learned about BFL. I don’t do it, but I totally try to get the “pie” on Lance baby’s site to be kinda even- like 1/3 for each macro and that’s sorta loosely BFL. And I don’t do the BFL moves b/c I’d have to cut back on my training and I’d gain weight. But I do it loosely thanks to you. This post is going to be amazing for your ego!! But you totes deserve it.

PS I can’t believe your blog is only 1 . You are so ridic. popular already!

  167. April 21, 2010 12:50 pm

From reading your blog, I’ve learned about the importance of protein after workouts! I actually never thought too much about it, but the balance of carbs/proteins and how much they can have an impact on your body before and after workouts, has opened up my mind. Oh, and that you need those healthy fats in there too! One more thing… cookie pizza’s are delicous!

  230. April 21, 2010 7:14 pm

    My favorite thing(s)?
So hard to choose…but, I will go with COCONUT BUTTER. I actually started making it myself once I read that I COULD, and…I don’t know how I lived without it!
After that it would be Spiru-tein. Some say it’s gross, I say it’s YUM. Especially the Cookies n cream flavor!

Lastly I would throw in some Natures Path Cereals, they are my new cereal addiction.

I think it’s really difficult to choose my favorite foods.
I’d definitely start off with some good German chocolate…
Then some 100 calorie Snack Packs since we don’t have those in Germany.
And one of those oil sprays..
And fat free salad dressings, also something we don’t have in Germany and since I’m a huge fan of the Hidden Valley Ranch that would probably be the one.
Yeah, I think those are good ideas.

    1. A giveaway of my favorite things would include a container of hazelnut milk, Ezekiel bread, raw almond butter, dried cranberries, Purely Decadent coconut-milk mint ice cream, Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies and Snapware.
    2. I found your blog because it was linked to another blog I was reading, though I can’t remember now which one it was! Your unique name made it easy for me to remember it, though, when I wanted to find it again. I’m really impressed with your results from Body for Life and appreciate the sensible approach you take to healthful eating–with a few treats thrown in. :) I’ve enjoyed discovering this whole online community of women who are dedicated to taking care of their bodies and their health, and to actually eating–and not being afraid to show their meals to the world through their photos! I’ve also appreciated your flashbacks to before you were so in shape, which serves as inspiration to others. Congrats on your first year as a blogger!

For my second giveaway entry, I must start by telling you that I love your blog. I look forward to reading it every night after work!

As for what I’ve learned – the importance of eating protein and carbs and fats together. I also love seeing some of your calorie counts. I’m one of those people who has either restricted too much or overdone it too much and seeing the great meals you eat has helped me to not be so scared to eat real eggs (you know, not just the white!) and enjoy some avocado. Thanks!

Now I am going to comment again because I REALLY want to win =) First off, I tried Kombucha and didn’t like the first 5 drinks of it… and by the end of it, I loved it! But a trick I took from you is heating eggwhites in the microwave and then putting them into wraps for lunch! I made one for the boy and me today! Thanks for all the awesome meals and moves. Oh and wait.. your 4-10 min cardio intervals… I did it yesterday and I was dying! It’s great!

let’s say I don’t win…where do you get the blender bottle? I think they are brilliant!

Ok, now that I’ve watched the whole thing and now how to enter, here’s entry #1:

I read your blog for the workouts. I am a somewhat newbie to the gym, so reading up on how you do your exercises (and videos!) have been extremely helpful. The food ideas don’t hurt either. ;)

Phew, finally had the chance to watch the video. :) You are too cute.
My favorite obsession these days is oranges. If I did a giveaway, though, I’d include somersault snacks and Barney Butter. Those are my favorite “shipping safe” things :D
    Happy Friday!!!

Second entry: I read your blog because you are adorable and your personality really comes through and I love it.
The one thing I learned from your blog (among many, such as great recipes I bookmarked) is your HIIT workouts on the treadmill. I am actually itching to try them one day. Definitely a perfect contender for when I run low on time but still want to get my sweat on. :D

I read your blog because it’s entertaining and I like seeing what you’re eating! I like that you eat a lot of food! (Sometimes when I’m reading other people’s blogs I think – “I would never be full if I ate that!”)

  325. April 23, 2010 7:56 am

Hey Janetha! You probably don’t remember me but I’ve been a reader/lurker since you first started your blog last year….we were on team BadA$$ together! Anyway….just wanted to shout out a happy one year birthday (not the other b-word) to your wonderful blog! I’m not sure if I’m too late for the giveaway, but I’ll throw in my favorite things just for good measure. I’m also a fan of all-things peanut butter and I have to say Naturally More is #1 on my list…I literally buy 5 containers at a time because I go through it so fast! #2 on my list of favs are deep chocolate vitamuffins (put naturally more WITH those and I’m in h-e-a-v-e-n) Also, chocolate green superfood would be up there, dr krackers and So Delicious Coconut Milk… YUM! Anyway… congrats on your wonderful milestone…here’s to another wonderful year!

  326. April 23, 2010 7:57 am

Oh and p.s…I think what I love most about your blog is that you give bfl/balanced meals a spin where they’re not so dull and boring. I have learned so many tasty recipes from following you that it’s not even funny! Thank you!

OH, and I am very excited for this comment – I love your blog because of a lot of reasons, but a big one is that I also have always loved to bring in treats for co-workers at work, or friends at parties etc and have had trouble with what to make since I’ve changed my eating habits, so I love all of your healthy (and yummy) treat ideas! OK, and some of the not so healthy ones too!

  330. April 25, 2010 6:14 am

hahah I like the sunrise luna’s FOR the frosting on the bottom. :) Lol.
And Janetha! Yay for a video post! You actually don’t sound too different than I imagined. But fun stuff. I love your favorite things, and despite being too late for the giveaway, congrats on one year babe.

    Love your blog!

Eating well is fairly new to me; it’s been a long process that started after we had our b/g twins. First, it was getting away from processed foods and recently after finding blogs like yours, it’s upping the protein and eating more good for you carbs. All that to say, that I don’t have very many favorites yet, but I have gotten to like oatmeal, protein shakes with fruits/spinach, cottage cheese, almond butter.
