flashback friday round eight.

October 9, 2009

holler! everyone in a fabulous, weekend-loving mood? hope so. i know i am. i also know that it is a lot easier to just type the way i talk rather than type a poem like last night’s post.  that took some serious brain power.  and then i realized that my usual posts probably sound like garbage because i just type as i think and never go back to edit what i wrote. so, sorry for that.. i am not going to start revising my posts any time soon though! :)

friday, friday, friday. you know what that means! before i get to the flashbackin’ that i so sadly missed out on last week (due to my trip to lake powell) i will tell you all about the calories in and calories out for today.

meals_thumb

meal 1: chobani+PB2+shredded spoonfuls & coffee @ 8:30 AM

10-9-09 001
i held off on the usual protein oats today because i had a lunch appointment at noon and knew that if i ate oats at 8:30 i would be full until way past 1 PM..

10-9-09 002

so i kept it light and delicious with this greek yogurt fabulousness. probably not a word, but who’s spellchecking? oh right, she is! (but she is out of town so i  think i can get away with it!)

marshall brought me the coffee and made sure i knew to take note of this on the blog. by the way, he reads all my posts yet never a once has commented. in the famous words of stephanie judith tanner, "how rude!"

after breakfast i had an important business meeting with marshall and evelyn:

10-9-09 005
wait? what? evelyn? yeah.. she was at work with me today because marshall’s mom was coming to get her and take her to iowa.. she is moving there and needed a friend. but i did get some last few hours of quality playtime with evie.  nothing like a little cat and mouse in the office!

10-9-09 013

note: i did not pose her. she did that all on her own :)

at noon my two bosses and i headed to the venue for our holiday party that i am planning.  we took a peek into the room where it is being held but we could not stay for long because there was a meeting going on in the room.  guess what the people in the room were doing?  come on, just guess. you will never

the perk of this whole thing was we got to dine at the venue’s restaurant for free to "try out the cusine".. and by the way, nothing on the restaurant menu matched the menu that we will be having for our holiday party. but free food is free food, right?!

meal 2: medeterranean salad (goat cheese+cukes+kalamatas+romaine+etc..) & grilled chicken & a dill roll @ 12:45 PM

10-9-09 027
um, yum. this place was exquisite! they brought out an amazing bread selection.

10-9-09 018

the food was gorgeous and tasted as good as it looked. as i said above, i started with a dill roll~
10-9-09 019

and then my entree came~

10-9-09 028
one of my bosses ordered the lasagna~

10-9-09 026
which came with an awesome caeser salad~

10-9-09 022
i really want a triangle plate!!!

my other boss ordered some type of salmon dish but didn’t get what he ordered.. and didn’t send it back because the food took forever to come as it was, so he ate what they brought, which was a salmon caeser salad~

10-9-09 025

i would have sent it back and asked for what i ordered, but he said this was delectable.

and then we ordered a dessert to go.. not for me, but for a dude back at the office..
chocolate crepes with fresh berries~

10-9-09 029

they smelled good, but i was already cheating with the roll so i didn’t have any!

after lunch i did NOT want to go back to work, but such is life.. back i went.. marshall’s mom picked up evelyn and we had a teary goodbye.. ok well i guess i didn’t cry, but i was sad to see the little gal go. she is such a cute kitty.  she will have a great life in iowa :)

after work i zipped home and changed for the gimnasio. and ate an apple that i didn’t photograph.. shooo.  i have killer DOMS in my legs from yesterday’s lower body workout (which i didn’t bother to post since it would have been SO hard to keep that whole poem format going on) so the cardio on my schedule sounded painful, but necessary.  i had to get that lactic acid flowing!

then i came home, showered my hot mess of a self, and opened writer to post this.. i have a girl’s night out in about a half hour sooo.. that is where i will end my friday! i will tell you about tonight.. tomorrow!

**********************************************************
andddd now, flashback friday!

so, i was supposed to go to brand new tonight. (for those of you who don’t know, that is a band) guess what? THEY CANCELED! jerks. apparently it was due to illness. i thought that i would keep the concert spirit going and flashback to some past shows i have been to.  while i have been to more than 100 shows.. i only have photos from some of them because taking a camera in is not always practical, ja know?

concert going is one of my top 10 favorite things to do.  it is also one of the few things marshall and i have in common as far as interests go, so that is always fun.  the first show i ever went to, and this is a little embarrassing, was eve 6 on my 15th birthday!  i was a concert junkie from then on out!  i used to be super crazy and go nuts in the mosh pit..crowd surf..stage dive.. all that nonsense.  i have had many a bloody battle wound, have been dropped on my head a time or two, had my belly button ring ripped out (while crowd surfing) and have been pushed around more than my fair share.

now that i am older, i just like to stand at the back of the crowd and sing my little heart out along to all my favorite songs.  i do get a wild hair every now and again and frolic in the mosh pit for a moment, but my claustrophobia usually gets the best of me and i have to make a bee line for open air.

i have a plethora of photos from many a show, but i narrowed it down to a handful of favorites.  it is too bad i don’t have the photos from the shows i went to when i was 15 and 16.. those would be a riot to see.  they are in storage somewhere.. maybe i will get around to finding them sometime!

Aww I’m sorry they canceled. What a bum!
    1. Most definitely Nsync. Oh the days. Favorite? Probably the Lady A one I went to this summer
    2. I usually end up sending it back unless I’m embarassed about being such a pain.

PS: Definitely participating in Flashback Friday cuz you’re awesome!

  2. October 9, 2009 8:13 pm

    1.) Spice Girls, haha :-D

    2.) Send it back.

  3. October 9, 2009 8:19 pm

Dang girl! How do you remember what concerts those pictures are from?! I would never be able to keep them straight if I had been to that many. I dislike concerts UNLESS the music is just unreal. That’s only happened a few times in my life.

Somewhere it DIDN’T happen…my first concert:

    1. Backstreet Boys

    2. I never send it back, I’m too much of a pleaser.

  4. October 9, 2009 8:20 pm

I really haven’t been too that many great concerts–at least the ones I want to go to!! They never work out guff!

In the past I’ve usually just kept it but now I”m’not so sure. Now that I am way into food and want to get my money’s worth :) If it’s not too far off, I’ll usually just suck it up and eat it.

  5. October 9, 2009 8:21 pm

Dang awesome workout!! Your intense with that treadmill! haha.

My first concert was Reba.. you know the lady that has that show on Lifetime!

  6. October 9, 2009 8:25 pm

ah, you kissed slug?! jeals :)

    1. first? um. the toasters, I think? the best, that’s tough… probly wu tang clan. it was the first show the whole clan did together, after ODB died. it was absolutely amazing. even though I almost got killed by the crowd.

    2. hm, I’ve never really had that happen. I would send it back if it was such a mistake that I couldn’t eat it (eg, I’m vegan, and the dish has cheese).

    have a great weekend!!

Evelyn is so damn cute….and that’s an awesome name for a cat by the way. Thanks for sharing. :)

The first concert that I went to was Soundgarden in Seattle when I was 14 I think….it was alright. My fav was a really small and intimate White Stripes show in downtown Olympia. It was right before they became super popular and not many people knew about them. It was freakin fantastic!
Have a great girls night out.

I think my first concert was Backstreet Boys…I was 13… If my food comes out wrong, I send it back. I have worked as a server but I still don’t see a point in eating something so as not to step on any toes.

  10. October 10, 2009 12:24 am

SEnd the food back for sure. But of course if I am starving and have no extra time, I have been known to eat it. Or actually walk out….pissed off AND hungry but just prove a point. In a fine dining restaurant, I would send it back and pray pray they got my order out pronto.

First concert….gosh, among the first would have been Tori Amos and Counting Crows that you’d actually recognize the names. But I was sneaking into 21 and up shows at dive bars with decent sized indy acts at age 15.

Crowd surfing and getting your navel ring torn out? Girlllll…..we probably used to hang out at the same bar :)

Janetha… you are so badass: I love that about you! :D You must be the single most cute bandgoing chick that I know!
I’m sorry the band wussed out on you… that sucks -_-

The first concert I went to was more of a festival really (Pinkpop 2007). I remember when they started a mosh pit when Korn was on O_O… that was scary and then there was Evanescence, which was AMAZING :D…

I’m so self-conscious about those kinds of things and I hate making feel people bad (waiters and chefs included), so I’ll just be quiet and eat it..

    Love…
P.S. Those chocolate crepes made me drool

  12. October 10, 2009 2:33 am

    1. first concert: matchbox 20 … favorite: blink 182 & jason mraz!!

    2. usually ill send it back. i hate doing that tho because i dont want to seem high maintenance. but i am paying for the food so i expect it to be correct.

  13. October 10, 2009 3:33 am

That is SO cool that you got to go to that tasting! All of the food looks so good, especially the salad and bread stash. Talk about gourmet!
The restaurant food…I usually keep it, unless it is totally unedible. One time I had shrimp that were only partially cooked. Literally, parts of the shrimp were still purple. I had to send it back but then was freaking out the whole night that the waiter spit in my food or something!

my first concert was in China like 15 years ago… it was a big moment for me to attend a concert. And my last one was 3 years ago with Star in Argentina. We went to see Norah Jones. She was amazing.

if my food comes different, it depends on my mood and how it comes. if I like it, i’ll keep it, otherwise I’ll send it back.

have a great weekend sweetie! :)

  15. October 10, 2009 5:19 am

My first concert was Bobby Brown. My fave ugh, that’s tough, probably Bush because Gavin is hot.

It depends on what has happened with my food. If it’s shredded cheese and I didn’t ask for it then i’ll just pick as much as i can off. If they’ve doused it with butter or something i’ll send it back. This is why I don’t eat out. They probably spit in it afterwards.

Sweet scar, how did you get it?

  16. October 10, 2009 5:45 am

Miss Janetha you are SUCH a groupie :)

I can’t believe you hammered out that HIIT with sore legs. You are one serious lady!

Hope you had fun at your girl’s night!

  17. October 10, 2009 5:56 am

LOL @ how rude! I say that all the time!

    Yummy eats, too!

First concert… Bee Gees. Swear. Totally dating myself here. My mom made me go with her. I was very young and impressionable. Needless to say, I was traumatized by Barry Gibb’s singing and didn’t go to another concert for a long time;)

My first concert was….?…hmmm…not sure about that one, but the best concerts I’ve been to have been Widespread Panic shows.

I usually keep my food unless it’s something I don’t like (like wrong salad dressing).

Your scar is beautiful! That might sound weird, but I think of scars like beauty-marks. I was an accident-prone child (and adult) so I’m sporting quite a few myself. :)

  19. October 10, 2009 6:00 am

Um, so what were the peeps at the restaurant doing?? Did i miss that? Where did you
go? I will actually answer your quesrtions today :)
    1) social distortion 2006. I think I have told that story before. No I had never been to a live concert until then, and yes, I was almost killed in the crowd. I had a dream the other night that they were coming back and I was SO excited…until I woke up :(
    2) I send it back. Word. I don’t go out to eat that much because I can usually make what I want at home. If I’m PAYING someone else to cook for me, they better do it RIGHT. But if I do send it back, I usually don’t have them make it again. I get so bugged that I lose my appetite. Wow, I sound high-maintenance, huh? Swear I’m not that bitchy! xoxo

  20. October 10, 2009 6:55 am

Ah! I love Anti-Flag! And the Hush Sound… No one ever comes to New Brunswick. Boo.

    1. My first concert was Bob Dylan with my whole family when I was 10 years old. It was the first time I’d ever seen someone smoke pot :P

    2. Depends on what the screw up is. If it’s something I can just pick off then I don’t bother. But if it ruins the dish, or is a completely different one, then I’ll send it back. Sometimes you get it for free anyways! :P

  21. October 10, 2009 7:03 am

I love Fridays! Yay for the weekend!
I am SUCH a concert junkie too! I went to one last night!! Love them! I was the same way, always jumping around, crowd surfing, etc… 5 years later and I’m at the back! lol

My first concert… oh man, so embarassing… don’t laugh… Avril Lavigne. At age 13. ha!

And I usually keep the food- unless it was meat when I was a veggie.

    Enjoy your weekend!!

dammmmn that sucks about Brand New! The song soco amaretto lime reminds me of high school haha.

hmm first concert? BACKSTREET BOYSSSSSS hahahaha yeah baby :)

and I would totally send my food back if it came out all botched!

  23. October 10, 2009 7:33 am

Holy crap you went to a lot of concerts! They all look like a fab time!

Evelyn is such a cutie. That lunch you went to looks so delicious! I can’t blame you for not wanting to go back.

If my food isn’t butchered too badly, I’ll eat it, but if it’s horrible, I’ll say something. I just hate having to send stuff back when everyone else already has their meals.

  24. October 10, 2009 7:59 am

Okay, how have I never heard of most of those bands?

My first concert was New Kids on the Block. I was probably 10. My favorite concert was Simon & Garfunkel a few years ago. My friend and I were the youngest there by far but it was so good.

Jason reads my blog and doesn’t comment too.

  25. October 10, 2009 8:02 am

    1.) Vans Warped Tour
2.) Usually I don’t unless they accidentally give me meat. Then I DEFINITELY send it back

    1) Eminem when I was 13. Oh man, so many inappropriate stories with that one!

    2) I don’t think I’ve ever sent anything back, there is usually not a problem. Although, ALWAYS if I’m with a group I’m the last one to get served.

    http://eatventures.wordpress.com

  27. October 10, 2009 10:30 am

    1. My first concert ever was Michael Jackson in Europe in the 80s…
    2. I usually just eat what I’m brought. Unless it’s totally off… But I’m honestly always afraid what they’ll do to my food if I send it back…

    Happy Weekend! :)

  28. October 10, 2009 3:28 pm

dang gurl!!! you have been to a TON of concerts!!!!!!!!!!! Minus the bear always makes me think of this one hockey player I dated. :X ha!

Love the chobani action, and DANG free food at the restaurant?! Your chicken looks bizomb. Def. what I would have ordered!!!!!!!!!

And that kitty made me smile!!!!

I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND BEAUTIFUL JANETHAAAAAAAAAAA!

(P.s. I dont think we are facebook friends- I gotta get on dat!)

i love that you quoted stephanie tanner. and i love even more that you know her middle name.

  30. October 11, 2009 4:27 pm

i’m just praying whatever the people were doing in that room they were fully clothed while doing it.

you like brand new?! girl puhleaaaaaase stop being so damn cool! they’re the shizz!!!!!! love today’s flashback friday – you roll with such a hot crowd!

  31. October 11, 2009 6:50 pm

Marshall should definitely start commenting on the blog ;)

Love the concert recaps! You have definitely seen some awesome shows.

    1. Reba McIntyre (sp?) when I was like 8 haha…I’ve done better since then. SHe was great though.

    2. depends…if i asked for the dressing on the side of my salad, but the salad is not my main dish, I will just roll with it. ONE salad with too much dressing won’t kill me. But if the meal is cooked/prepared incorrectly, I will definitely see what they can do about it (very politely).

Hahahaha I love that you thought I’d hate on “fabulousness” (and that I wouldn’t see this). I love made up words, especially ones that should be real words anyway.

Holy concerts! My first official concert was B. Spears with LFO as the opening act. I was in heaven! My favorite concert, though, was the Lil Wayne- T-Pain concert I saw in February. My lil broskie just saw Jay-Z last night, and I am BEYOND jealous.

And the ordering thing…I dealt with this over the weekend and just worked with what they gave me. I tried my best to dodge the egg that they scrambled with my rice. Blech.

    MISSED YOU!!!! xoxoxo

    I loved those pics!

My first concert was even more embarassing – it was Destiny’s Child and 98 degrees. Oh lord. I was probably 12 or 13. Fave concert was The Flaming Lips anytime I’ve seen them, or Motion City Sountrack in KC.

As far as wrong orders go, it depends on how offensive the mistake was and how hungry I am. If I can pick around it and be okay I’ll usually just deal but if I can’t eat it I’ll send it back.
