internet malfunctions.

September 29, 2009

holler! so like the title says, marshall’s internet is down.. but that won’t stop me from typing my ramblings now and posting them tomorrow!  so when i do post this it will in fact be tuesday.. just keep in mind that right now it is monday night sooo yep mmm hmm ok moving on.

basically all of you love to cook for other people! what would we do at a party all together?! there would be some serious cooking of delicious food going on. speaking of delicious food, it was fun to read what your favorite foods were!

WHY do dogs get into cat litter boxes?! WHY, WHY, WHY? it is so gross! and 90% of the dogs i know love to dig for hidden treasure in the cat box and come out with kitty litter moustaches and it is really quite disgusting. and i don’t get it. anyway, that is the drama of the evening!

anyway! how was your monday? mine was swell, want to hear about it? well i guess you must.. that is why you are here.  either that or you are just really into my dogs or my boyfriend.

meals_thumb

well as you can guess, it was the original pancake house for the monday morning meeting. ah, so sick of that place.

thank goodness for the incredible, edible egg.

meal 1: egg whites+onions+mushrooms+tomato & side of strawberries+bananas+peaches & black java @ 8:00 AM

 meals 573 meals 572

side note: tomorrow (tuesday.. so today as you are reading this) is national coffee day! drink up.

hmmm work was rather uneventful today. aside from a few angry customers and some bosses picking on me, i would say it was a pretty average day at the office.

meal 2: chicken quesadilla & vanilla chobani @ 1:00 PM

meals 575

hmmm. that dude looks pretty unphotogenic, no? i promise, it may not look very fancy but the taste was a different story. what was inside?

meals 576

it was a flat out stuffed with grilled chicken, a laughing cow light wedge, trader joe’s black bean dip and some frank’s red hot. melted to perfection. stellar combination! not my dream quesadilla, but it was what i had on hand in the fridge at work so it did the job.

and then since this was not very substantial i had some room for lunch dessert today.. another chobani!

meals 577

anybody know who’s blog i was reading?! if you guess right i will give you a dollar.

vanilla this time.

meals 578

best part about this flavor before even opening it?

meals 579

the carbs did not outweigh the protein.  mayjuh plus in my body for life world.

meals 583

mmmm.. creamy and dreamy.

meals 586

you can tell it was thick because it just stuck to the spoon. i love how thick greek yogurt is!

and my thoughts? loved it.  although it was no vanilla bean ice cream (come on now) i still enjoyed this flavor of chobani quite a bit! vanilla is by far my favorite flavor in the world.  even above cinnamon, even above coconut, even above peach. shocking, i know. i love vanilla so much. this yogurt had a nice balance of vanilla-to-tartness-of-greek-yogurt ratio.  i hate it when the flavor of the greek yogurt is totally lost.. but the vanilla was present as was the classic taste of greek yogurt! and with such great nutrition stats.. this is one for the shopping list.

final grade: A+

i managed to survive the rest of the work day but i was very anxious to get out of there since i was going to the lake! by the time i left work i was hungry again because my lunch was not that mondo so i snacked on this gem while driving..

meals 592

and then it was to the lake!

meals 656  my mom wanted to take her shiny new wakeboard out before the boating days come to an end for the season. my sister & her husband took us to pineview, a lake here in utah, along with my 2 nephews. boat snacks were on board, naturally, and i guess you could kind of count them as meal 3 and 4? i don’t know.. it was over the course of a couple hours.

my next meal: hummus+veggies & cottage cheese+albacore+ranch+cucumber+kashi crackers

 meals 636  meals 638 meals 640 meals 642

and no boating post would be complete without some action shots!

moves_thumb

IT WAS COLD! the water was so so so cold!

 meals 611

can you tell by my face? it wasn’t as bad once i got out of the water. meals 617

my mom was a rockstar today, going in and out of the wakemeals 609

my sister sunimeals 633

my bro-in-law mike

meals 644

good times! but it was a little cold after! my mom was bundled up :)

meals 651

thanks for the fun time everyone who went!

well by the time we were done wakeboarding my arms felt like jello AND it was late.. so i bagged my upper body workout. meh, it was a good workout i suppose? i will do some bicep curls tomorrow to make up for it, promise!

i headed to marshall’s and needed to eat but didn’t want to cook. so i went for the obvious choice..

meal..4? 5?: greek yogurt mess @ 10 PM

meals 660

i tried a new brand of greek yogurt, it was only $3 for 16 ounces!

 meals 657

this made me laugh.. i guess i committed the ultimate tragedy and marred the yogurt with my drama of kashi heart to heart and a fresh pear! woops!

meals 658

good stats!

meals 659

definitely will snag this brand again. cheap and delicious.. fine by me.

fine by evie too..

meals 661

for the record, the dogs were mega pissed that i was letting her do that. i shouldn’t create such tension between the kids!

well now i am done typing this but since the internet is down so i will have to post it manana! and i guess it goes without saying that i won’t be reading any blogs tonight.. but in all honestly i am OK with that. i can function without technology.. contrary to what marshall might think ;)

hope your tuesday is fantastic! another day, another dollar! i promise i will work on getting the recipe page up for the penne pumpkin pasta dish as well as a couple other new pages i have in the works.

Qs

1. what is inside your dream quesadilla? mmm i will take a quesadilla any way it comes but i do love using pepperjack cheese and adding lots of hot sauce, chicken and avocado.

2. would you rather be way too hot or way too cold? i pick cold. it seems to me like it is better because you can throw on the layers and bundle up in the blankets.. but when it is too hot you can be totally naked and still dying of heat!

Haha I KNEW your question would involve favorite quesadilla- I know my girl! I need to learn to stand up straighter, new goal for next year!

Throwing clean eating right out the window I would say one of those totally cheesy quesadillas, 3 or 4 kinds of cheese with some tender chicken and salsa, mmm good and gooey!

I would for sure say hot, but then you do have a good point with the whole layering thing – but I really do love the heat (heated seats on in July!)

Evie has stolen my heart again!! Hope I get to meet her soon xoxoxo!!!

Hey I AM THE FIRST comment – are you giving out prizes??? :)

  2. September 29, 2009 8:48 am

I’m mega behind – I haven’t even said WELCOME to Evelyn yet to the M&M family! I LOL’d at kitty porn from yesterday and dogs with kitty litter mustaches today!

My rock star quesadilla would be filled with all sorts of sauteed veggies…. peppers, onions, mushrooms, and don’t forget the cheese! Then greek yogurt for dipping with lots’o salsa too.

    OK Now I’m hungry.

  3. September 29, 2009 8:50 am

One of my friends dogs not only digs in the cats litter box but it naps there. So gross!

My dream quesadilla would be pretty simple. Chicken, lots of pepper jack cheese, hot sauce, and sour cream. I sort of think simple is best with quesadillas. I think the flavors kind of get lost when I put too many things in.

I would rather be too cold. I like being cozy inside lots of layers.

  4. September 29, 2009 9:05 am

Thank you for those gorg pics of the lake, and of you in it :) and in the boat. Girl, I’d jump on the back of a boat and party like rock star with you anytime:)

I would much prefer it too hot. Dear lord woman, I live in AZ, going out for a couple mile run and it’s only 100F at 8am right now.

    Better get a move on…

And good luck w/ your internet. Down internet sucks. And cookbook idea? You have inspired me….I blogged bout it a smidge!

  5. September 29, 2009 9:07 am

Omg, Greek yogurt has 23g of protein?? Whhyyy does Atlantic Canada not carry this stuff? I’m weeping into my keyboard. Thanks Janetha :P

    1. When I went to Mexico a few years back, I basically lived off of quesadillas made of cactus, potato and green salsa for two weeks. They were a-mazing. No one puts potato in quesadillas here though, they should!

    2. At one point I probably would have chosen too hot. But that was until I lived in a top floor apartment in the middle of the summer. Now I choose too cold. Always.

  6. September 29, 2009 9:08 am

Yummm. I am such a quesadilla girl! I really like making them myself because you can totally healthify them up and make them scrumptious. I’m so jeal that you get to go wake boarding. It makes me miss being home and having the outdoors, mountains, and nature and your finger tips.
Great eats girl. I love that brown cow greek yogurt. It’s a great new find.
    1. I love quesadillas filled with sharp cheese, chicken and avocado with a side of blackbeans and greek yogurt for dipping. tons of hot sauce is also a must!!!!!
    2. I rather be way cold, because you can always bundle up. It’s so hard to cool off after getting all hot and sticky. I think it’s is mountain girls that love the chill.

yumm quesadillas .. chicken, cheese, and spinach is allll i need :)

and i would SO much rather be cold. i always say .. you can put any amount of layers ON but you can only take so much OFF :)

im so jealous of your wakeboarding skillz!

  8. September 29, 2009 9:21 am

I am agreeing with you 100% so far on your chobani conclusions…more reasons that we are brothers from other mothers. The vanilla is lush!

    1) Mmmm dreamy quesadilla…good question. of course you know there will be plenty of mature cheddar in there (!) plus some grilled chicken, and refried beans. Gooey and amazing!
    2) Ok I agree with you in theory about being able to warm up more easily than cool down but I HATE THE COLD SO VERY MUCH. So I pick preferring to be hot. Both suck. 65/70 degrees and sunny/clear please! Thank you!

cold makes me so sad! i guess i like in MS & i have learned to love the heat & humidity. plus i associate that heat with summer vacation!

  10. September 29, 2009 10:09 am

Wow you have on talented family! I don’t even think my mom knows what a wakeboard is…

    1) There is this BBQ chicken quesadilla at a local restaurant here that is seriously out of this world amazing. It has gobs and gobs of provolone cheese, the best BBQ sauce ever and I think I just gained 10 pounds thinking about it!

    2) I would definitely rather be cold. I hate sweating and getting all puffy when I’m hot! I live in Florida, but I’m that freak who drives around without the AC on because I’ve been cold all day long!

  11. September 29, 2009 10:28 am

I would much rather be hot. I can stand the sweat, but when I get cold it is very hard for me to warm up my wee little bones even with layers and layers of abominable snowman gear.

  12. September 29, 2009 11:03 am

ahhhh, love the boating pics! I give you props for going out. The first taste of fall and I don’t venture near the waters. I guess you would say I hate the cold? Yep.

  13. September 29, 2009 11:05 am

    LAUREN’S BLOG!

  14. September 29, 2009 11:08 am

Sorry just had to get that out!

Get out of here. I’m here in MI MAY-JAH-LY freezing my ass off and you’re out on the lake! With hummus and shroomies?! Rub it in why don’t you ;)

    1. I’m a plain jane – cheese and salsa on the side!
    2. Ew, I don’t know. Both of those sound awful!!

  15. September 29, 2009 11:12 am

You know, I used to feel the same way about being cold…that you can always put more clothes on. But that was until I went to college in upstate NY and it gets so cold there that it literally HURTS your face. Heat doesn’t do that (unless you get burned) so now I say I’d rather be too hot…but really I hate both and that’s why I live in coastal San Diego, thankyouverymuch :-)

Umm I HATE more then anything in the world being cold. So I’d rather be sweating my bejeezies off then be cold. I actually think I’m afraid of being cold.

hmm quesadill? pjack cheese, black beans, onions, tomatoes, peppers, SHRIMPIES, and of course my fav thing in the world..SALSA

  17. September 29, 2009 11:33 am

    2) Cold! Because I know I can get warm SOME HOW… being hot is just grody and sweaty and no bueno!!!

    3) xoxoxoxooxoxoxoxo LOVELOVE

  19. September 29, 2009 11:59 am

Funny about the Greek yogurt! I guess I like drama then…

I would much prefer too hot. I run on cold.

I love quesadillas with beans and guac…I’d like to try a non traditional sweet one though. That would have to include peanut butter of course!

  20. September 29, 2009 12:02 pm

ahhhh that water must have been FREEEEEEZING! mayjuh props to you – i am a huge cold water baby. however, if we are talking about air, i would rather be cold than hot. does that make sense?

i need to find the brown cow greek – a cheaper alternative approved by janetha? i am there.

fave quesadilla…hmmm a pb+banana one is good, but i think i am going to have to go for a good ol’ cheese one. dipped in salsa.

love you girl – haven’t seen you around gchat…get on that train and stat lady!

    happy day to you!

  21. September 29, 2009 12:14 pm

I have a serious Internet addiction too. They limit it at my work, and sometimes the bandwidth allowance runs out… And I get really sad, even though I can just go home and use my own Internetz after work!

    1. Lots and lots of cheese, grilled chicken, avocado, black beans, tomatoes, onion. And tons of sour cream and salsa on the side!!!
    2. I HATE being cold. I would rather be too hot, for sure!

I would much rather be hot than cold. Being cold is sooooo uncomfortable!

ooo brown cow!! how now brown cow! wtf was that saying!?

oooooooooo boating!! i am sooo jealous!! i wish it was even warm enough to wear pants and a t-shirt!! i am in 2 layers of pants (one huge and fleece), 2 layers of socks (1 wool, 1 fleece), 2 longsleeve shirts, 2 tank tops and a sweatshirt!!

    1) Goat cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers, squash, salsa, chicken, avocado

    2) HOT! I hate the cold!

  25. September 29, 2009 2:15 pm

It was so fun to see your wakeboarding pics, I miss summer already!

    1. Lots of cheese dipped in sour cream, salsa and guac. I’m way more into dippers. I’d be happy if there were some black beans in thur too.
    2. Exact same answer as you, however I hate being cold.

  27. September 29, 2009 3:10 pm

Coffee day?! Love it. And celebrated, unknowingly. Water skiing = tres cool! Ah, fun stuff (even though I can’t swim, lol). Chobani are sending me some samples…can’t wait!

    1) what is inside your dream quesadilla? spinach, mushrooms and lotsa cheese…

    2. would you rather be way too hot or way too cold? too hot. I HAAAATE being cold!

  28. September 29, 2009 3:14 pm

Ah! I am so behind on all my blogs but I HAD to check in with you. I have always wondered why I count yogurt as a “protein” food when in fact, most yogurts have more carbs. I guess that’s why Greek yogurt really is a gift from the gods!

Dream queso: Honestly, just lots of cheese and salsa. Ok, and avocado. And maybe some onions and peppers ;)

HOT. Sorry, but I think there is nothing so miserable as being cold!

  29. September 29, 2009 3:45 pm

I think you could put about anything in a quesadilla, and I’d be happy! :) The black bean dip sounds great; I’ll have to try it… I also like fresh salsa & avocado in my quesadillas. And sauteed mushrooms and onions. And as I said, pretty much anything else.

I think I’d rather be hot than cold. I know in theory you can put on more clothes if you are cold, but often if you are cold that’s not a realistic option. And often I’m cold and wet – awful combination.

  30. September 29, 2009 3:47 pm

wow i think you did a great workout on the water yesterday! That is hard work sista. Love all the meals for Monday and I am major jeals of the chobani love. I wish wish wish they would cave and send some to canada :(

  31. September 29, 2009 4:10 pm

I love the vanilla chobani as well! Second fave, after the pineapple.

Yummy Quesadilla! My dream quesa would be bbq chix with lotsa cheese and onion. Or something else with lots of veggies, cheese and chicken.

I would rather be cold as well! I HATE the cold with a passion, but I love cozying up next to a fire, and wearing sweaters and sweatshirts. I hate being hot! Cold wins!

The brown cow stats are insane! 23 g of protein? Incred!

My dream quesadilla: banana, peanut butter, chocolate, cinnamon sugar all dipped in more peanut butter and chocolate. Mmm.

And I’d much rather be too hot. I have an impossible time warming up when I’m cold, no matter how many layers I don!

    LOVE YOU!

  39. September 29, 2009 7:04 pm

Awwwe, Evelyn is getting special treatment, eh??!?!? I do understand it though- she’s a heartbreaker!

OK I JUST tried that yogurt that you created your drama with – I liked it too and the price is RIGHT!

You guys are all jock-stars on the wakeboard- your mom is totally in a squat- go mom!

    1. Dream Ques- like calories are no option? Avocado, loads of cheese, bits of BBQ chick.

    2. I lOVE LOVE LOVE to be hot. That didn’t come out right. I love it when it’s super hot outside- over the weekend we were in a restaurant in Palm Springs and I couldn’t WAIT to get back out into the wonderful 106! 1. Dream Quesadilla-Definitely something Mexican-chicken, black beans, cheese, guac…can’t go wrong!
    2. I would rather be too cold too-you can definitely warm up or be so cold you’re numb and can’t feel a damn thing :)

  49. September 29, 2009 10:46 pm

so glad that dilla had some yummy ingredients. it was so flat, i thought you had gone lame-o with your fillings but i shouldnt have been worried, whew. my all time favorite quesadilla might just be an uber simple one…cheddar cheese, spinach, topped with avocado. YUM!

  50. September 30, 2009 1:44 pm

Que? Quesadilla? Oh I love them so!! I like to make mine with ooey gooey cheese (now I use fat free cheese, so less gooey) black beans, juicy chicken, green onions and sometimes a little corn. Then of course I smother it in any type of HOT salsa and sour cream. :)

And as far as too hot or too cold. I hate being cold passionately. I also hate winter except for Christmas (certified X’mas freak here)! Stupid snow… Or as I like to call it, “white death”.

I’d have to say I’d rather be cold – you can always put on tons of blankets and/or sweaters and clothes, but if you’re super hot you get to the point where you can only take off so many clothes!

I can’t WAIT for my Chobani samples to arrive!!! The vanilla looks soooo yummy. I LOVE the pics of you and your fam wake boarding!
