flashback friday round two.

August 14, 2009

heyo! i feel so organized blogging at the end of the day.  i wonder how long i will keep it up?  well, actually i already know i won’t be blogging tomorrow night so that screws things up already ;) i will be at my friend’s cabin in the woods (well it is more like a gigantic baller house) so i will more than likely post about that sunday!

it is like your answers get better and better each time around.  everybody is pretty eager to eat breakfast, as you should be.  but  susan waits approximately ten to fifteen seconds before eating breakfast, i am fairly certain she must keep a toaster for her waffles beside :) oh, that reminds me of the episode of the office with the foreman grill! haha~such a good episode.

ooookee dokee!

meals_thumb

meal 1: protein oats @ 8:30 AM

IMG_3386

you will be seeing a lot of this business, fyi.

meal 2: whole foods salad bar! @ 12:30 PM

since my sister and her fam are in town everyone got together for lunch!

IMG_3389

we all snagged our selections~

IMG_3392  IMG_3394 IMG_3390 IMG_3391

checked out (thanks for lunch mom!!)

IMG_3393

and cruised over to the park to enjoy our lunch!

IMG_3396

lettuce, spinach, bell peppers, olives, garbanzos, edamame, celery, beets, carrots, chicken and cucumbers. and the tiniest scoop of the black bean quinoa salad there on the right.. it is my fave but definitely NOT on plan~so i just had a bite. topped the salad with balsamic vinegar.

i wish they lived here!

IMG_3397

my niece izz got some noodles & co mac’n’cheese.. ohhh i LOVE that stuff, it was hard to not take a bite…

IMG_3400

my dessert~ (the others had two bite brownies for dessert, i resisted..reluctantly)

IMG_3401

and then we fed the ducks! and geese and other birds…

IMG_3404 IMG_3405 IMG_3406 IMG_3407 IMG_3408 IMG_3410

couldn’t snag a decent photo, but these are all my nieces and nephews.. i am the only sibling not married with children!IMG_3416

then it was back to the office for me. next up was a celebration of sorts.  today is national creamsicle day so i whipped up…

meal 3: orange cream protein shake @ 4:00 PM

IMG_3418

not the greatest photo, just the view into my magic bullet mug as i was driving!  this had 6 oz almond milk, 2 oz simply orange OJ, a few pieces of frozen peach and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. orange julius :)

i ate this as i drove to the vet! penelope had to get her one year checkup & shots~

she didn’t know what was coming…

IMG_3422

IMG_3432  IMG_3430

she did sp well! not a peep! she clocked in at 22.2 lbs, my favorite number! :)

after this i cruised to my mom’s for my lower body workout which ended up being somewhat of a joke because penelope didn’t want me to work out. she kept laying on my face whenever i was on the floor..

IMG_3439 IMG_3435 IMG_3438

ah, such is life. i did manage to get things handled~

i also did some crunches on the floor and hung out with my niece, she is 3, she said she was working out her fingernails so they would be big and strong. i love her face.

after my workout i didn’t have any real plan as to what to eat, which can be bad, especially in my mom’s house which is stocked with lots of unapproved food..

meals_thumb

meal 4: 1 wasa w/ cottage cheese, 1 string cheese, some grapes, 8 almonds & a few bites of leftover ground turkey sauce from last night

IMG_3441

that is the only photo i managed. sorry, it was kind of a random mish mash of snacking until i was full.  it worked out without any cheats so that is great!

i went to marshall’s and rewarded penelope with a real bone for being so brave at the doctor.  penny is no vegan.

IMG_3452

randy was real jealous.. he would slowly move in and she would slowly pull away, he did get a few licks in.. here is a play-by-play:

IMG_3454

IMG_3455

IMG_3457

IMG_3463

randy got a little rude and growled at the little bean so we had to take the bone away all together. what a bully!

i am going to take a break now so i can eat and then post what i ate. hold please.

meal 5: 0% fage+1/2 larabar

IMG_3476

i used the cashew cookie flavor~i have heard good things about it but honestly this little dude did not have much taste to it. maybe it was a bad batch? it really just didn’t taste like much of anything. downer. i haven’t eaten many larabars in my day due to the stats but i do love them. so far i have tried cashew cookie, peanut butter cookie, banana bread, cinnamon roll and apple pie.  i think the cinnamon one has been my fave thus far.

IMG_3475

well that sums up my day! tomorrow is free day so i am excited to have a few items i have been craving (and resisting!) this week.  you can bet there will be some cereal and/or ice cream.

and now for my friday feature~flashback friday!

i was going to flash back to a trip in california but since penelope was at the vet today i decided to change it to her very first vet visit back in october~

look how tiny she was!!

IMG_8153

i think she was about 8 pounds!! she has almost tripled in weight!

 IMG_8136

then…

l_c98e31cbeddf4065a51e9efd742e8af7

now!

 IMG_3428

haha. i love her. (i don’t love my extra weight though..grumble!)

so there you have it! a whole lot of dog and family photos and not much food in this post, hope you all dont mind :)

question time!

1. fave larabar flavor?

2. do you live near or far from your family? if you live away from them, do you visit often? is it hard to live far from them? we all live close except my one sister and her fam (hubs and 3 girls).. it kills me that they live so far! i could never, ever live far from my mom. i think you all know this!

3. weekend plans?!?!?

    First commentor?! Awesome!
Your nieces are ADORABLE. I would kill to have lunch at WF with my sis and her kid :)
    1. It’s a toss-up, but I think coconut creme right now.
    2. Far from my fam, but pretty soon I will be really close again!
    3. It’s a mystery…hopefully it will involve catching up on sleep and working out!
Have a great weekend, Miss Janetha!

  2. August 15, 2009 4:30 am

Flash back Friday is so fun! Cute baby Penelope pics. And dogs are not so different than children, if I lay down to yoga or body weight exercises I am guaranteed to have a child throw them self on to me.

    1. I’m loving the PB Cookie these days!
    2. Almost all my family lives pretty close. Just the way I like it!
    3. Just enjoying the summer days at home with the fam, the bike and my running sneaks!

Have fun at the gigantic baller house this weekend! hahahah!

Thanks SO much for checking out my new blog! I was so excited to wake up to your comments this morning. I know, I know…it doesn’t take a lot to get me excited. :)

Penelope is so cute!! She was tiny as a little puppy!

I’d have to say that the Cashew Cookie is my favorite Larabar, but I’ve heard that PB&J is the best. Unfortunately I haven’t found that flavor yet!

My parents and brother are in TX and boy do I miss them. I’m very close to my family and I wish we all lived closer. My sister-in law and her family live in Vegas and my MIL live in FL. We’re all over the place! I definitely wish I had more family close by.

Weekend plans? It’s a yucky day, but I think I’m going to see Julie & Julia later. Yay! :)

  4. August 15, 2009 4:57 am

Awww she’s so cute! They grow fast don’t they?

My favorite larabar is Peanut Butter Cookie, but I love cherry pie and cashew cookies as well!

My parents live…well…right down the hall! Haha I had to move back home (due to circumstances uncontrollable by me…grr…) and I love them both to death but I wouldn’t mind living far from them, as long as I can come visit whenever I want- Canada’s ok, Italy was hard!!

Weekend plans… fun ones! I’m going to Boston today with my friend Gemma, and then tomorrow I’m packing because I’m fleeing the country for a week and a half on Monday! =)

    Have a great Friday

Ohmygosh, you fam is too cute!! I can’t wait until my older sisters start having kids so I can be an auntie! At least I still have younger step-siblings to play with, but they’re growing up too fast!

Aww, penelope looks so scared on the vet table with her tail between her legs! A bone well deserved I think…

    1. Tough one. In no particular order: cinnamon roll, apple pie, chocolate coconut chew and cashew cookie (dates+cashews are one of my fave combos) There are tons of flavours I haven’t tried yet though, bar pickins are pretty slim around these parts.

    2. My parents and grandparents all live 1-2 hours away. But my older sisters live 8-16 hours away! They live in awesome cities though, so it at least makes for a good excuse to travel :)

    3. Going home!! :D

Hope you’re having fun in the woods!

  6. August 15, 2009 5:38 am

I know, I didn’t care for the cashew cookie either. I think it needed salt! My favorites are the pb cookie, that new HAZLENUT jocolat I just tried and this weird cocoa mole flavor. It’s a mix of spicy chili powder and cinnamon. Yum.

  7. August 15, 2009 5:56 am

Penelope is SO cute! My dog won’t ever let me do floor exercises either bahaha.

My fave Lara Bar is currently the PB&J one :)

  8. August 15, 2009 6:16 am

Girl! You, me and our protein oats!!! Gotta love em’. Sometimes I get nervous that I am adding too many cals to my protein oats by topping them with almond butter, but it’s just sooo damn good on oats and I usually end up eating a tbs of AB throughout the day anyways.
I can’t wait to try the FAGE and LARABAR mixture!!!!
    1. My fav LARABAR so far is PB&J!!!! I tried the coconut pie one and it was just a bit too coconutty. I have the cinnamon role one though and I can’t wait to try it in some FAGE!
    2. I live on the otherside of the country from my rents, but they come out here a lot and stay a while.
    3. I am headed to a BBQ tday, then tonight I gotta take my friend who is in Boston for the night out on the town!!!

  9. August 15, 2009 7:05 am

Oh my gosh I love the before/after puppy pics, what a change!! Your salad looks awesome, btw. And I was just at a party last night and we were talking about that same episode of The Office!! I think that’s my favorite one.

    1. Fave Larabar flavor is PB cookie, hands down.
    2. I live about 2.5 hours from my family, so I am able to see them fairly often.
    3. Weekend plans: getting some sun and homework/cleaning

    have a great weekend!

  10. August 15, 2009 7:11 am

I LOVE the pics of penny impeding upon your workout! When I lay down to do crunches my cats like to play with my hair so then I get claws in my head!!! hahahahahaha

sounds like we both had visits to the vet yesterday :-p super cute pics of baby penny. I should post pics of my babies at kittens.

ugh I went to petsmart yesterday and got sucked into staring at the kitties up for adoptoion – always makes me so sad – there were a ton of kittens and one was the spitting image of Isis. I asked my husband if we could get another. he said I have to wait 7 more years :( poop! (when our currents are 10years old) I think he forgets that cats CAN live to be 15-20 yrs old hahahah!

I actually HAVE NOT tried a larabar yet! I don’t know which one to start with…. Your doggie is so cute! I dont know how many times I can say that! haha

  12. August 15, 2009 7:29 am

    I LOVE puppy pictures!!

My fave larabar is the peanut butter cookie YUM!

I live 2 miles from my mom and 5 from the rest of my family :) We’re going to be moving soon though and i’ll be about 40 miles away :(

  13. August 15, 2009 7:50 am

I love the pics of your nieces and nephews. And Penelope is just too cute – now and back in October… Flashback Friday is an awesome idea… :)

    1. Peanut Butter Cookie (but I haven’t tried a lot of flavors yet)
    2. I live far, far, far away from my family. Unfortunately, I don’t get to see them often, and sadly I don’t know my nephew well at all… :(
I remember how sad I was when he was born 13 years ago, and I couldn’t go to the hospital to see him…
    3. Nothing really. But I like relaxing weekends… :)

Have fun in the woods! ;)

  14. August 15, 2009 8:19 am

The protein oats look really good! Your fam is adorable, and I love your salad bar creation. Mmm mmm good! The pics of you guys feeding the ducks are too cute.

Haha my cat would always crawl over to me and nudge my hand to be petted when I would do my foam roller or floor exercises. He’d actually crawl UNDER me when I’d do push ups! Haha. Penelope is adorable :)

    1) Cinnamon roll

    2) When I’m in Arizona for school, I live WAY far away from my fam–2000 miles away! It’s very hard, cause we’re all really close. Plane tickets are expensive and it’s a long flight, so I can only visit on holidays, vacations, and sometimes one weekend if I’m really feelin homesick. I hate being so far away from them :(

    3) More driving!! UGH

    1. I love them all but Cherry Pie is my fave!

    2. We live far away from our families for good reasons :) But we do let them visit (and, yeah, we shlep to them every once in a while).

    3. Ikea shopping this morning, Skateboard Film Festival tonight, family picnic tomorrow (remote family that I haven’t seen in probably 30 years so they don’t count re: answer #2).

  17. August 15, 2009 9:04 am

Your neices and nephews are super cute! And well, your dogs are just dolls. I love the pics of them sharing that bone! My pups do that too and it works for a few minutes until one decides to be a bully!

I’ve only tried the cashew cookie Lara bar and like you, I wasn’t a huge fan. Since then I haven’t bought any others but I need to give them a try again.

I live far from my family but very close to Morgan’s family. It’s nice having his family nearby but I do miss my own family. I see my Mom usually 3 or 4 times a year. It’s hard to be away from her but we talk on the phone all the time so that helps. Usually I see my brother 2 or 3 times a year. I talk to him just about every day and now that he’s starting a job I’ll probably see him a little more often! They are both coming to visit in about three weeks and I can’t wait!

This weekend I’m going to get a few good workouts in, grocery shop, vaccuum our apartment and I guess my inlaws are taking us golfing.

  18. August 15, 2009 9:10 am

Penelope is too darn cute – she just melts my heart! :) That’s hysterical that she wants to lay on your face when you are working out! Lando isn’t too bad with that (but my parents dog used to be terrible!!) :)

    1. pb cookie — duhhhhh
    2. still live with the fam :)
    3. weekend plans include working working and working — glamorous, i know

  22. August 15, 2009 10:35 am

I love the WFs cartons!! I hate taking the puppies to the vet! I always feel so bad for them. One time I literally COULD NOT stand going so I made my mom take The Brat – what am I going to be like when I have kids?! Haha!

    1. Coconut Cream Pie still reigns supreme!
    2. My immediate family literally lives within 5-10 miles of each other
    3. No idea!

  23. August 15, 2009 10:36 am

Cuuuute kiddos! I love, love, love your dog. Like, I’m kind of obsessed. So freaking cute.

  24. August 15, 2009 10:41 am

Penelope is too cute for wordsssss. If we ever did a meet up, you’d have to bring her along! ;)
ps-could you make that orange shake for me, plaese??? sounds deeee-vine!

    1. PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE, by far…best flavor around. Still need to find the pb&j though!
2.I see my fam when i’m home for school breaks :)
    3.more sorority STUFF!

  26. August 15, 2009 11:06 am

Cute nieces and nephews! I bet you love being an aunt. I’m an only child so I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get to be one but my hubby has two sisters and one of them has 3 kids so I finally have “aunt” status!

    1. Actually the cashew cookie is my favorite…I think that the flavor stands out the most if you just eat it plain. I take tiny little bites and savor it for as long as I can…..

    2. I live about 6 hours away from my parents. Not too bad, we see each other about 5 or 6 times a year. I always joke about when we have a baby they are going to live in a tent in the backyard.

    3. No plans! Just a baby shower and then sweet peaceful alone time!

    Have fun at the “cabin”!

  27. August 15, 2009 12:37 pm

Love Whole Foods salad bar! My sis and I did lunch there the other day.

  28. August 15, 2009 12:55 pm

I love feeling organized. I feel so much more in control and put together when everything is in its place. Although, it never seems to last! :)

Your neices are way too cute! So glad you had a great day with them.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  29. August 15, 2009 12:57 pm

All your little relatives are super cute! I wanna be friends with the one who exercises her fingernails.

And… I want your pup. She is too cute for her own good. And well mannered, too? What a mutt!

    1. So far my fave larabar is apple pie, but I want to try the new PBJ flavor everyone is raving about.
    2. I live way far from all my family because I chose to go to college 1500 miles from home. I visit at most holidays and for a couple weeks in the summer.
    3. Work, sleep, pack, who knows?

  30. August 15, 2009 2:44 pm

LOL! Penelope is SO ADORABLE!!! So funny about her laying on your face, Ginger does that too and I really don’t understand it. I love far from my family. I have ever since I graduated college and got married. Its not hard for me because I’ve never known anything else….and we moved a lot growing up so I’ve never been around extended family. We see each other a few times a year and talk about once or twice a month. #3) Study and then study some more.

  31. August 15, 2009 6:36 pm

Aw, this post made me smile so much….I LOVE your nieces! I’m rather awkward with kids though, so I’ll enjoy them at a distance. HEe hee.

    1. I dislike Larabars…sorry! I know it’s blog blasphemy!

    2. I live with my family now, but I’ll be leaving on Monday…all across the country to LA from VA! And all my relatives are in Korea. Way further. :-(

    3. Brunch with friends tomorrow, and a whole lot of packing!

  32. August 15, 2009 7:00 pm

Maaaan…that salad bar effort is awesome…when oh when will the good ol’ U of K get in on some of this kinda action??? I wana play!!

I don’t even know what a Larabar is…but your yoghurt mixture looks immense….I’m guessin it’s kinda cakey….it looks super yum!! A must to try I feel!

I live in like, the worlds smallest house with my dad and my boyfriend….so a little toooo close at times? The rest of my family live only about an hour away…but I still hardly ever get to see them, sad face

And this weekend…I will be mostly, working…booooo. A little time for some gym action in there too though! Although next weekend will be much more fun…1ok of fun in fact…happy happy face

Enjoy your weekend…after all…funs what weekends were made for, gee someone seriously needs to tell my boss that ay?? lol

    xxxx.

  33. August 15, 2009 8:08 pm

I go to TOWN with the Whole Foods salad bar! In fact, anytime I walk into that place it’s like I’ve returned to childhood and am a kid in a candy store. I’m such a nerd.

  34. August 15, 2009 8:36 pm

Penelope is the cutest dog EVER. Hands down!

fave larabar flavor? Definitely the PB Cookie!

    2. do you live near or far from your family? Far, unfortunately! I’m in Nashville, Tn… they are in Orlando, FL

if you live away from them, do you visit often?I visit as often as I can and same with them… but it’s never enough :(

is it hard to live far from them? Yes, it really is! I now have a 6 month old niece… one younger brother and two younger sisters…miss them tremendously! And I have a 3 year old daughter… so hard to know that they’re not here and able to watch her grow up!

LOTS of cleaning today…. tomorrow some cardio/yoga and well, more cleaning, unfortunately!

  35. August 15, 2009 9:42 pm

a FAVORITE lara bar? I actually gave Snuffy a cashew cookie flavored lara today and she wasn’t thrilled. My fave would be either cherry pie or cashew cookie. To me , cashew cookie tastes like a cross between pecan pie and a macaroon

  37. August 16, 2009 8:04 am

I had the same thoughts about the cashew cookie Larabar. I thought it was really bland!

Daisy does the same thing to me whenever I try to workout at home…definitely a challenge.

Heyyy, hope your weekend is still going fabulously! I haven’t posted in a hot minute! The pups are too cute – as are the nieces and nephews! Yummerz for WF salad bar and a ma to pay for it!! Score!

    1) I’ve only tried a few flavors but I was a fan of the cashew one!
    2) Sad face. My parents live in Spain, my sister in Australia and my brothers back home in England. I don’t get to see them often at all and it hurts my heart.
    3) Yesterday involved running and a girl’s night out and today involved brunch with Holly in half an hour – oops, I need to go shower!

Chat soon lovely lady. Besos. x

  40. August 16, 2009 8:58 am

The pecan pie is pretty stellar, and the classic pb cookie! I’m moving away from my momz in a few weeks!!! :( i’m really sad but i’m only chile’ so she’ll come visit meeee :D Cute fam lunch and bravo on resisting the ever glorious mac n cheeze!

  41. August 16, 2009 9:07 am

That WF date looks too fun for words :) You’re so disciplined not munching on dessert or that mac n cheese. Although I know I wouldn’t have a problem not eating the mac n cheese because I hate the noise. Haha actually that’s gonna be my question on my post today! Great! Your family is so cute!

    1. I like the key lime pie or the coconut…something, I can’t remember what it’s all. Coconut Cream?

    2. I live about 500 miles from my parents. Sometimes I wish I didn’t.

    3. Well, I guess I’m a little late commenting to answer the weekend plans question. I did manage to hear some of a Paul McCartney concert for free.
