$1000 worth of giveaways for a healthier YOU.

April 25, 2011

hello and welcome to another monday! i have a special mid-day post for you guys today that i am REAL excited about.

remember a little bit ago when i posted about fun with fiber?  i reviewed the FiberChoice chewable fiber supplements and also showed you how much fiber i ate that day.  well, FiberChoice has contacted me again and has asked me to share the healthy choices that i make for my own healthier tomorrow.

i love getting asked to talk about stuff like this. as you know, i am a professional rambler, so when they asked me to go off on this topic, i got that kid-in-a-candy-store grin on my face and had a zillion thoughts piling up in my brain.

over the weekend, i had a chance to reign in all my thoughts and really ponder what i am doing RIGHT NOW to be a healthier person.

i have been a very health conscious person for almost three consecutive years now.  i go through spurts of die-hard health consciousness (i call this “in the zone”) and more relaxed healthy habits (being a newlywed is a surefire way to let your healthy habits slide.. trust me).  right now i am trying to find a steady, consistent balance of healthy habits.

things are going great and i think i have finally figured out my own prescription for myself. here are five of my healthy choices that make up my recipe for success in a healthy, happy life. i hope my choices inspire you to make a list of your own healthy choices!

choice #1: stick to a workout plan.

IMG_1671

as you all know, i started the 60 day insanity challenge at the beginning of this month.  since starting the program, i have diligently worked out and not missed a single day of the challenge. i have the workout schedule taped to the fridge and i LOVE crossing off each day i complete.  not only am i seeing huge improvements in my physical fitness, but i also feel really good about myself.  there is nothing better than the feeling of sticking to a commitment and following through.  i am super proud and the more time that goes by, the more i want to stick to the program.

i noticed this same phenomenon when i completed the 12 week body for life challenge.  it was a set workout plan and there was never any guessing. i woke up each day knowing what my workout would be.  i stuck to it, followed through, felt amazing and had great results.

on the flip side, whenever i have had a “just do whatever, whenever” workout mindset, i have skipped workouts. several times. i haven’t given it my all. i haven’t set the bar high enough to make any improvements in my physical fitness.. i have simply just worked out to”get by” and never had that huge feeling of accomplishment or motivation to do better.  i touched on how great the feeling of increased fitness is in my “focus on food & fitness” post last week. this is the feeling i am talking about!

because of the above rambles, i have realized that i am the type of person that NEEDS a workout plan. i do my best and, more importantly, FEEL my best when i have a plan and stick to it. and yes, i was the girl who always liked to get gold star stickers in elementary school. go figure.

choice #2: try new things.

image

while i do love sticking to a plan, i have realized over the years that my body adapts easily to certain plans and it really craves a change.  i had great success with my first go-round at body for life.. but when i tried it again, the outcome was not quite as drastic.  my reasoning behind this? well, my body was accustomed to the plan and it wasn’t being pushed to try anything new.

since having this realization, i have made choices that are new to my body. one example is the insanity challenge.  these daily plyometric workouts i complete are a huge change from the body for life HIIT and weight lifting workouts my body was used to.  i believe this choice is challenging my body to say NO to adapting and YES to progressing.

another new thing i have introduced into my healthy lifestyle is bikram yoga.  i started on april 2 and have consistently gone three times a week.  my body is more flexible, my mind is clearer, my skin is better (for real!) and i truly feel like i am becoming more healthy all around thanks to this new-to-me type of exercise.

i was always afraid to try yoga because i can’t even touch my toes.  now i crave yoga class. i look forward to it and can’t imagine going a week without it.  i urge you all to go outside of your comfort zone and try something new—your body will thank you!

choice #3: keep the kitchen clean.

IMG_1675

and no, i don’t mean the dishes and countertops!  i mean the food that is in the kitchen.  i have mentioned that marshall has hopped on the healthy eating bandwagon.  this has worked wonders on my own eating habits.

before, it was SO easy to grab handfuls of unhealthy food simply because it was readily accessible to my grabby little hands. they have a mind of their own, i tell ya.  anyway, we have purged our kitchen of all the crappy food and filled it with plenty of clean eats and treats.

i love the saying “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail,” and i take this approach with what i keep on hand for my meals.  i always make a list of healthy meals i can eat all week long before hitting up the grocery store.  i make sure to include a variety of both sweet and savory items. this way, i can always be sure to have something healthy on hand for no matter what type of craving i run into.

this choice for a healthier kitchen full of food has worked wonders for my bad habit of bites, licks and tastes!

choice #4: talk it out.

image

i will be the first to say that i struggle.  sometimes people ask me HOW i find the motivation and dedication to eat clean 90% of the time and to work out 6 days a week.  well, guess what? sometimes it’s hard. real hard. but my strategy to get past those hard times is to face them. look those doubts straight in the eye and talk out the problem.

about a month ago, i told marshall that my jeans weren’t fitting and i hated how my thighs had gotten bigger. i also told him that i hated how i had fallen into the habit if eating dessert every. single. night.  i mentioned that it bothered me how often i let myself skip a workout.  i expressed these frustrations to some of my friends, as well.

i found that by voicing these thoughts, i was more motivated to change the things that were bothering me.  instead of bottling my frustrations up inside and letting them get worse, i let them spill out to those who i trust.  in return, i have received positive reinforcement and added support to help me make healthier choices.

IMG_0066

who knew marshall would be a great crutch for me to lean on when i was feeling blue about my recent frustrations?  i am so glad i told him what was bothering me instead of just being a total brat all the time.  each day he reminds me of my own goals and helps encourage me to get up, make healthy decisions and stick to them.

i also am not afraid to spew my feelings here on the blog. i think that goes without saying, though…

next time you are having an internal struggle, talk to someone. anyone. put it out there and you will be more inclined to fix the problem. if you don’t think you have anyone to talk to, email me. you can talk to me!

choice #5: spread the love.

IMG_1243

i have found that i am the most motivated to stay on track when i express my excitement and passion for healthy habits to others.  whether it be by cooking healthy meals for others or by yammering on about how great it is to work out and eat healthy, i am more inclined to keep working out and eating healthy if i spread the excitement.

this is a win-win situation, because not only am i more motivated, but others are, too!  granted, i sometimes become an over-sharer and blabber a little too much about how great healthy living is.. that’s when whoever i am talking to knocks me upside the head and tells me to zip it. and yes, that has happened, but hey.. sometimes i get so excited about how i feel that i just want to shout about it from the top of a mountain.

i think one of the reasons i love blogging so much is i am able to spread my love of a healthy lifestyle to all of you.  we are all like-minded individuals who are striving for a healthy balance in life and the best way to reach our goals and to help others reach their goals is to share our experiences with each other.  i like to think that we are all in this together. sappy, but true.

so there you have it! my five healthy choices that are helping me be the balanced gal i am today.  it wouldn’t be right if i failed to mention that i still always make a little wiggle room for ice cream. it’s my favorite food group, didn’t you know?

IMG_0083

FiberChoice also asked me to talk about how fiber plays a role into my healthy choices, and i believe that fits right in with choice #3.  i have a fiber-filled fridge and pantry and have been mindful of getting enough fiber ever since my post about it last month.

i do continue to take FiberChoice chewable supplements on the days i fall short in the fiber department, but am careful not to eat a boatload of fiber at once since it can cause bloating.

truth is, these supplements taste like candy and it’s hard to only eat two! but two is all you need for four grams of top notch soluble fiber. here are some fun facts about the supplement that i left out of my last fiber filled post:

  • FiberChoice Chewable Fiber Supplement is a simple, convenient, natural fiber that provides the regular benefits of fiber, while also helping to support the health of your immune system and digestive tract, and support overall health.
  • FiberChoice contains prebiotics – a unique fiber that nourishes the friendly, “good” bacteria in the digestive system.
  • Our digestive system performs a constant “balancing act” between good, healthy
bacteria and unhealthy bacteria. When the levels of bacteria are balanced, the body
functions well. However, stress, poor diet and certain medications can disrupt this
balance, allowing bad bacteria to multiply. Good bacteria help to keep the number of
    unhealthy bacteria in check.
  • Good bacteria, called probiotics, have a number of health benefits, including aiding digestion, supporting immunity, and destroying harmful bacteria in the gut.
  • The prebiotics in FiberChoice help probiotics grow and thrive to maintain a healthy,
balanced digestive system and promote full-body health.
  • Fiber is typically associated with regularity, but fiber is also important for overall digestive and full-body health.

now for the part i am REAL excited about. (hey, you made it this far.. you deserve a prize!)

Knowing me, I’d put the money towards my food purchases- I shop exclusively at whole foods and my local farmer’s market, so it would be great to have a little help considering it does get a little expensive!

awesome! i would put it towards my yearly CSA payment – getting a giant box of vegetables delivered once a week is a great excuse to build my meals around fresh fruits and veggies and what’s in season and local!

  3. April 25, 2011 12:50 pm

There’s a year of yoga deal for $599 at a nearby studio. I’d apply it to that for SURE. :D

  5. April 25, 2011 12:51 pm

I would use the money to buy books on nutrition/supplements and also to take classes on nutrition as well. I feel like I have the exercise part down, it is the healthy eating that I’d watnt to focus more on.

I would use the money to buy a few items I need to make biking instead of driving more realistic- like a rack for my bag and extra lights for safety!

I would love to buy passes for a yoga studio! I’ve only done home videos so actually attending classes would be wonderful! I’d also get some home weights. What an awesome giveaway!

  15. April 25, 2011 12:54 pm

wow, this is awesome! And I love your ways of living healthier, too.

I’d use the $ to buy more seeds/plants to put in our garden so we have even more homegrown and fresh fruits and veggies. I’d also use some of the $ to purchase canning equipment so I can USE our fresh fruits and veggies and freeze and can them so we can reap the benefits of our garden all year round.

I’ll be honest… I’m a grad student and making ends meet can be so hard. Especially now that I’ve begun to buy organic! Fruits and veggies have always been more expensive than the prepackaged easy meals but when you throw in buying organic on top? Whew! Lord knows I can use a little help with my grocery budget! Also, I’m registering for the LA 1/2 marathon in October (My first!) and it is certainly not cheap either!

  17. April 25, 2011 12:55 pm

I’d use the money for a gym membership! I just bit the bullet and joined a gym. That $200 would get me a few more months!

I would use it to buy more at-home workout equipment. So far, I have a DVD, a set of dumbbells, and a mat. For the past year, I’ve been re-focusing more and more on my fitness and nutrition. I’ve always been a skinny woman, and I have often been discouraged from exercising and eating healthily because of my size 2 pants and XS shirts. Those same people didn’t/couldn’t understand that I was unhappy with my body, just as they were. I started scouring the internet for some motivation because, God knows, I didn’t have any of my own.

Side bar: I teach high school English and am a newlywed. Nothing sucks your motivation more than having to devote EVERY MINUTE of your time to someone else.

I discovered the “Strong is the new Skinny” blog, and I wanted to be those women! That’s what I was missing! Unfortunately, I have an old knee injury that sometimes keeps me from pushing my lower body as hard as I’d like to go.

Before I got engaged and had a wedding to pay for, I practiced yoga at least 5 times a week. When I had to trim my spending to pay for my wedding, I cut out my yoga practice. I’d love to renew that practice.

When I spend so much time lifting weights and trying to solve every adolescent problem that comes my way, I can feel my body and mind calling for the balance and centering that only a good yoga practice can bring. I miss the serenity and companionship of my studio. My mat has stayed rolled up in my car, staring at me sadly when I walk into the grocery store, school, or gym. With a $200 gift, I could have 3 full months of unlimited yoga practice! Conveniently, I do have the months of June, July, and August coming up where I could truly focus on deepening my practice. I never got over my fear of inversions, and I want to be able to hold a good crow pose. I have the physical strength, but I want to rediscover my mental balance.

That being said, I love your blog. I’ve talked my husband into trying your recipe for pumpkin enchiladas tomorrow. I can’t WAIT!

I try to do as much reading and research, and eating ‘clean’ foods. $200 would get me a gym membership for a year, and also help me join a local farm co-op for healthy, organic, local foods all summer long!

How exciting! I would use the $$ to buy a pass to a yoga studio on my way home from work. I do yoga at home, but I know I would push myself more if I practiced in a group setting!

Okay, there’s a lot in this post that I wanted to comment on. I should’ve been taking notes or something! I’m glad to hear about your experiences in how getting married slackened your healthy eating habits. Since I’m getting married in Sept., I’ll be ultra-aware of that and work to combat it, well not on the honeymoon, but you get the picture. Like you, I’m lost without a relatively rigid workout plan. I get so much joy from crossing days off my marathon training schedule!

If I won $200, I would run to the the running store down the street from me and buy myself even more running gear (shoes, energy gels, cushy socks, capris, shirts, you name it!) to feed my healthy habit, which happens to not be not so healthy for my wallet! I don’t want to go all over-sharing on you or anything, but I seriously have so many disgusting workout shirts where no matter how many times I wash them, the pit stains won’t disappear! Ahhh, to afford a new workout wardrobe and conserve water for my massive amount of laundry. ;)

  56. April 25, 2011 1:09 pm

I would definitely put the money towards a new gym membership. I canceled my membership at my old gym when I moved last fall and lately exercise DVDs and running outside is just not cutting it. I miss going to classes and having other people around to motivate me!

I would do absolutely anything for this money. Over the past few months, my mom has lost her job and money is extremely tight. I can barely afford anything, and because of this my healthy lifestyle has taken a nose dive. If I won this money, the first thing I would do is buy a pass to a yoga studio. This is something I have wanted for SO SO long but have never been able to afford. The mere thought of being able to join a studio makes me incredibly happy, but I don’t know when that would ever happen. I would give the remaining money to my mom to buy whatever she neeeds.

Thank you so much for this opportunity.

My wife would love it also because she hates the gym and this would let her workout at home. Keep up the good work.

  64. April 25, 2011 1:12 pm

If I won the $200, I would buy some more expensive healthy grocery items that I’ve been wanting to try and spring for some new running shoes!

  65. April 25, 2011 1:13 pm

I did BFLife and loved it. My biggest obstacle was getting up! But I did it and stuck to the routine. …I’d pay another 6 mos. membership for my childhood friend to continue her goal with BFLife(she has lost 22lbs) but can’t afford the gym membership.

  66. April 25, 2011 1:13 pm

I would use the gift card to take Parkour classes. A studio just opened up a few miles from my house. Parkour, from everything I’ve seen and read, looks to be an awesome way not only to get fit, but to learn how to prevent avoidable injuries. One of the main building blocks to parkour is learning how to fall. Considering how active I am and how clumsy I am, being able to avoid seriously injuring myself when I take inevitable spills while running would save me a lot of trouble, considering I still have scars from the last time I took a tumble.

And also… probably some new running shorts. You can’t have too many pairs, right!?

I did the hike in a pair of old sneakers and while it worked for the short hike (2 miles) I would love to be able to branch out and go on longer hikes. With the card I would be able to afford a pair of hiking boots in addition to a year pass at the mountain (Otherwise it’s $7 per day!). I had stopped doing cardio before this hike because I was sick of the indoor machines and running is not my thing. I figured I would get a good workout lifting weights but this last weekend has really opened my eyes. Cardio doesn’t have to be boring! I’d also put the money towards healthier food choices/shopping. I’ve never gone to Whole Foods and have heard many great things. That they have a large variety of all the organic fruits, vegetables and meat you can think of!

I’d spend the rest on organic foods, particularly produce and other “healthy” foods that be expensive. :)

$200 would benefit me greatly with my healthy lifestyle! There’s many ways in which it would help me continue this lifestyle:
1-go towards healthy groceries(I’m a college student, and eating clean is a large luxury/expense)
2-gear so I can compete in my first triathlon!

Funny you mention FiberChoice chewables! I started taking them right around the time you reviewed them, and they really have helped my deal with my tummy issues (I have gastroparesis) It’s not something fiber can cure, but getting the right balance helps make it MUCH easier to deal with. Not that they need another testimonial, but if anyone is on the fence about taste or how effective this stuff is, toss my name on the “happy customers’ list!!

I’d use the money to pay for a 16 class starter package to a newish local Yoga place that’s been getting some great reviews and I’ve been dying to try. During the race the temperature unexpectedly rose to nearly 90 degrees before 10:00 am, and I collapsed at mile 11 due to severe hydration. So, I would use the giveaway to register for another half marathon (Chicago in August), a Garmin forerunner, and/or to buy some training books recommended by other bloggers (Kara Groucher’s Running for Women: From First Steps to Marathons, or Matt Fitzgerald’s Racing Weight: How to Get Lean for Peak Performance and Racing Weight Quick Start Guide).

    What a great giveaway! :)

While I love to work out at the gym, my boyfriend isn’t a fan. He’s naturally blessed with muscle, yet keeps complaining that he can’t eat like he used to…not to mention recent back and neck pain. There is a local Hot Yoga studio near our home in Annapolis that sells partner sessions. He’s mentioned how that type of workout sounds better..mixing core/stretching with strengthening and relaxation, however the price is so high I can’t get him to try it!
With the $200, I would love to buy us some sessions together and show him just how beneficial managing your health (and stress level) is!

How would I spend the $200? mmmm…. pay the expensive gym membership, buy local/organic produces and I’ll spend more on groceries to make healthy meals at home for my family! :)

What a rad giveaway! I would use the money toward some new workout equipment and fitness DVDs. Ive been dying to try CoreFusion as well as the Insanity programs.

“as you know, i am a professional rambler” – I freakin love that about you and your blog!

“next time you are having an internal struggle, talk to someone. anyone. put it out there and you will be more inclined to fix the problem” – I really wish I could be better at this :l

If I won the $200 I would seek out and sign up at a yoga studio. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. The desire started right after my back surgery in ’08 and I haven’t really felt like I had it in me to do it. The surgery left me feeling like an old lady with lots of aches and pains (and NO flexibility) and as soon as I heal this dang torn pec muscle (new injury – always testing my limits!) I’m making a promise to myself to step outside my comfort zone. It’s not something I do often, so this is big :)

I had to leave behind my old loves and my closest friends, namely my trainer, my rock gym buddies, my kettlebells and weight plates. I would use the $200 dollars to try to get a little normalcy back in my life. I could pay for some of my gym fees and not worry about making the rent. Woot! ;)

I’ve also wanted to try Cross Fit for some time now but could never justify adding that expense on to my current gym membership (which I am contracted into for another year). This $200 would be a great opportunity for me to finally sign up!

  262. April 25, 2011 4:03 pm

seriously one of the best “healthy” tips advice I have read!!! Love you girl! You truly are an inspiration I know to many including myself. After reading this I sure miss yoga. I did for a whole month at the beginning of the year, but due to money had to stop going. Hopefully soon I can fit it back in. And I am the same way with my workouts, and eats actually, I do best with a plan!!

  263. April 25, 2011 4:04 pm

Whoa, what an awesome giveaway! If I won that $200 I would definitely use it for groceries. There are some things I avoid buying because they are a bit out of my current budget, like organic produce, soy/almond milk, and organic/humanely raised meat. HOLY.COW. This is amazing!!

I would DEFINITELY use that $200 to buy supplements! After that post where you explained what you are taking everyday, I really started to reflect on the fact that I take nothing!

Two months ago, I joined the YMCA and I have literally gone no less than 5, and most of the time 6 days a week since I joined. I’m getting stronger and feel great about myself, but feel like if I were using some supplements to my diet, then I would probably get even better results! Because let’s face it, I don’t always get as much fiber or Vitamin B in a day as I need.

    Fingers crossed!!

They sell organically and sustainably grown produce (and other goodies, of course) from family farms in Indiana and Ohio. They focus on what’s seasonally delicious to amp up the flavor and reduce carbon footprint, water impact, etc.. I need new running shoes! I tore a ligament and the shoes I have contributed to that! I would also use it to pay for my gym, or help pay for partial bills/school so I’m not stressing constantly and therefore stress eating and barely sleeping! Or I would use it for physio/leg brace, because I can barely walk (currently).

There’s no gym close to my house and with gas prices rising, I suspect my motivation to drive there will sink even more. I already walk to work everyday (30 minutes round trip), so having the ability to do a few higher intensity activities at home would be AMAZING.

For the past 1.5 yrs + I’ve been experiencing strange health things (hormonal changes, sudden rapid weight gain that can’t be lost, etc.) and I’ve dealt with doctors who have ignored me and told me to do ridiculous things like DON’T exercise, eat less than 800 calories a day, etc. I’ve finally found a great doctor who is working with me. I’ve trusted my body for over 1.5 yrs now, knowing that there’s something else going on, and we’re finally getting to the body of it. That said, he wants me to see a dietitian, too, but my insurance isn’t exactly being easy to work with. a) NOT an entry for the contest
    b) Totally not related to you – I love your blog and the spirit of this contest, but….
Since GSK obviously has so much money to spend on well-being, maybe they can start subsidizing their patented drugs for the millions of people in the world who suffer because of huge drug companies’ refusal to allow affordable generic market alternatives.

Data is really important to me. Calories in vs. calories out, right? I also need to keep an eye on my heart rate, as my mom is on a heart transplant list and i could possibly have the same disease (very scared to go take the test). So i should be watching how high that heart rate gets. I would use my gift card from FiberChoice to buy a Polar heart rate monitor. Great giveaway and loved your tips! I would def sign up for some muay thai classes, even though I am a girl and I don’t like being hit I love fighting as a sport. My boyfriend and many of our friends train in MMA, it’s actually one way I would like to use my nutrition degree someday in helping them train healthier. Fighters are the most compasionate and driven people I have ever met and I would love to be a part of that but classes are very expensive! MMA training is a great challenging workout too of course, and if you don’t eat clean training is SO much harder so it is perfect for maintaining healthy habits!!

I would use the 200$ giftcard to pay for the cost of my MRI treatment for my knee. I know this sounds a tad selfish but let me explain. A couple of months ago due to overexcercising I encurred a rather nasty injury in both my foot and my right knee. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem because any normal person would just go get it checked out immediatley. Right? Well unfortunately because of the vicious hold that my eating disorder has had on my life I can’t stop exercising. I am absolutely terrified that just taking one day off will cause me to gain weight. But the overwhelming pain of these injuries has forced me to seek help and finally get it treated months later. So I would use the gift card to pay for the MRI so I can finally get healthy again and hopefully use the injury-recovery period to really make peace with my body and exercise.

I would use the money to reinstate my gym membership. I graduated with my BA in March and start a grad program in June for my M.Ed (en route to teach Special Ed) and, unfortunately, I’m forced to live an even more impoverished life this time around since my grad program requires I give up my the full-time job I’ve had for the last 4 years and cut my working hours down to 15 or less a week (!!!). I’m still not even sure how I’m going to survive (a strict Top Ramen diet? Live like the Amish with no electricity?), but I have faith it will all pan out… somehow. Anyway, so YEAH- I’d LOVE to be able to afford my Y membership again so that I can balance out all the sitting I do in class ALL-DAY-LONG. I try to get outside and run as much as possible but I live in Washington, a.k.a. the ‘Land of Rain’. Plus, a girl needs weights! Contrary to my prior beliefs, lifting a spoon of ice cream to and from my mouth does not build strong arm muscles.

Whoa, I’m so far behind the curve in responding… :D

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to improve our lives… in this regard, I’d use my reward to improve my life and, in turn, try to use it to improve others’ lives.

I am a fitness instructor and certified Pilates instructor who suffered a hip injury a while back, still recovering from the second surgery (back in Feb) to try to fix everything. Not only have I been out of work for a while, but I’ve been out of LIFE and FUN for over a year, and 40 is staring me straight in the face. I have grand plans, when I’m (hopefully) better, to create a virtual + (maybe) brick-and-mortar business using Pilates and yoga principles to help heal people who are recovering from lower extremity injuries and want to return to life.

So, I’d use the $200 toward yoga training, since I’m not officially certified–I just practice a lot.

The remainder of the money I would use to take several yoga classes. I would love to integrate yoga as a weekly workout and part of my routine. At first I stayed away from yoga because I thought a workout meant dripping with sweat, but having taken only a few, and one recently, I felt calm, stretched out, proud of my body and at peace. These are all feelings I need to have on a more regular basis.

I might also use it towards my payments on my degree of becoming a personal trainer. Currently I am a third grade teacher, but am leaning towards going back and getting my degree in personal training…200 bucks would be a great help! I would love the opportunity to have the ability to experiment with different recipes so I can enjoy bread once again (as an indulgence of course).
Secondly, I’ve always wanted to sign up for a mud run, just the thought of getting all dirty and not caring seems very freeing. If I was to win the gift card I would have no choice but to sign up… and I do solemnly swear to send pictures.

It’s time for me to take things up a notch exercise-wise. I just started competing in Figure but I need to improve my conditioning in order to really be competitive. To accomplish this I am DYING to take TRX suspension training classes. In case you’re not familiar, it’s bodyweight training using suspension cables. I tried it once and was hooked immediately. It rocked my world. SO challenging and definitely what I need to achieve greater definition and leanness.

But the program is pricey, which is really the only reason why I have not signed up for it yet. I would definitely use the gift card to sign up for the 10-session program of TRX at a nearby gym. I am confident that incorporating TRX into my regimen will help take me to the next level! I love new challenges!

Happy Friday Janetha! My old old treadmill actually just died yesterday so after lots of debating I decided to join a gym. I just joined online this afternoon. So, I would use this awesome giveaway towards my month gym fee. Now that I signed up I hope I can actually get out of the house and go to the gym in the morning – fingers crossed :)

I have been slacking off with any type of exercise for way too long but now that I read your comments about your chart and doing it everyday to be honest you have gotten me motivated to get off my lazy butt and get moving, what I would do is buy some new gym shoes since mine are beyond old & ugly-they are in the embarrassment state and my daughter keeps reminding me that I need to get new shoes, but being out of work since 2009 they just arent in the budget so if I had extra money and got new shoes then I would get started on my walking again so I could lose that extra weight that has creeped up on me since being lazy over the last year (I used to walk 3-5 miles every day) somehow I got out of walking, I think when the weather got cold, but I also need to get healthy and start eating better especially since turning 51 I know it gets harder to lose weight when you are older and I also have a thyroid issue that makes it even harder for me to lose weight and I have used that as an excuse for too long now but the bottom line is doing the exercise & the work, & eating better and keeping it going on a continuous basis, which is my new plan
Thanks for the motivation and the great giveaway

I’d likely buy some new workout gear. Gloves, foam roller, new shoes, etc. It always feels better to workout with the gear you need, and most of it gets pretty grungy after years of use.

insanity definitely lives up to its name, i gross myself out when i see that i’m dripping buckets in the end

i’m so indecisive that i’ll probably stare at the gift card for several months before deciding what to buy, i’ve been interested in lifting heavier weights…, maybe some heavy dumbbells? or use the cash to sign up for a yoga class. or buy some expensive chocolate cause that stuff is a staple ya know?

honestly, i’d probably buy some new clothes cause i’m wearing stuff i wore in high school, and it makes me feel like i’m 16, not 20. if i feel good in some new clothes i’ll have more confidence, and confidence=healthy! health is not only physical but mental as well! and maybe get some new undies, tagless hanes to be specific.

I need to thank you for spending time out of your day to write your blog. I stumbled across it about two months ago, and I am addicted :) I’m eating healthier, and attempting the bfl (I don’t have a gym so it makes it difficult. If I happened to be the lucky winner, I would spend the 200 on the Insanity DVDs. I can sit and watch those infommercials for hours, and it’s perfect because it’s an exercise routine I can do without a gym. I would spend the rest of the money on a blender, so I can make delicious healthy protein shakes. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Hope you’re having a splendid day!

I would buy a few personal training sessions to get myself back into working out again! However, my new gym doesn’t have classes so left on my own I am not doing so well with the lifting weights and I would love to get back into it. I would use the money to buy a punch card to my favorite gym so I can get back to my Kettlebell Classes. Their rates went up a few months ago – at the same time we were drawing up a new family budget and significantly tightening our belts. Sadly my Kettlebell classs was one of the sacrifices I made. I have my own Kettlebell at home – but find that I simply can’t challenge, motivate or push myself as hard as I do when I attend class with my awesome trainer!

    What an amazing giveaway!
    This is a tough decision!
I feel my best working out when I have good workout clothes to wear, so I would spend part of the money on a new workout outfit for me and one for the hubs, because he is my favorite workout partner and an awesome motivator.
I would put some money towards gas for a couple of hiking trips – hiking is one of my favorite ways to exercise.
I would spend the rest of the money trying some new healthy foods, like buckwheat and chia seeds, and some fresh fruits and vegetables from the farmers market.
